Eden Health District Welcomes New CEO

Michael Mahoney, a former CEO of St. Rose Hospital in Hayward accepts the position of Chief Executive Officer for Eden Township Healthcare District (DBA Eden Health District). The District’s current CEO, Dev Mahadevan, plans to retire from that position July 1, 2017, when his agreement expires.

Over a period of more than 30 years of executive experience he has developed a unique combination of leadership, human resources, financial, operational, community relations.”

As CEO at St. Rose from 1992 to 2012, Mahoney was directly responsible for the supervision of the senior management staff including the Vice-President of Patient Care Services, the Chief Financial Officer, the Vice-President of Facility Services, the Executive Director of Marketing and the Foundation, Vice-President of Medical Staff Affairs, the Director of Human Resources, and the Director of Business Development. During that time Mahoney realized several key accomplishments, among them: The development of an inclusive process to insure that the hospital’s strategic plans were focused on meeting community needs and identifying the necessary resources to achieve sustainable growth and operational improvement; the establishment safety programs for internal patients and employees that resulted in the hospital being recognized as having the best rating of any hospital in the East Bay service area; and the development of annual financial plans with operating and capital budgets that showed growth in revenues and net income.

Mahoney earned a Masters of Healthcare Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri in 1981 and has over the years accomplished numerous awards and commendations including the Hayward Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year 2005 and the City of Hayward, John Pappas Humanitarian Award 2011.
